08...That Dream
I dream the dream, dreamt many times before.
Now once upon a time, I dream that dream no more.
I venture aimlessly along a stretch of road.
Twilight’s halo looming, beyond green pastures glow.
Spellbound and bewildered, steady I walk alone.
Raptured by the wind I’m on a journey home.
In blissful serenity levitated towards the sky.
Mind, body and spirit soar along majestic skies.
Rejecting all reason, surrendering my being.
I am amongst the clouds, the wind beneath my feet.
Like a child at play, I don’t want to come home.
Happiness is the fuel that takes me to and fro.
Oh what a sense of peace I can fly, I can fly.
A mere mortal transformed when you lay by my side.
As a leaf in the breeze, as earth beckons and bellows.
So shall I, fall off the wind on the edge of vertigo
My eyes awake to wonder, reality is my dawn.
Euphoria lingers on. Once again I am born.
I gaze at you asleep wondering in glee.
Are your dreams the same? Are you flying like me?
Quiet anticipation for night to fall again.
To dream that dream again and on that journey ascend.
Since you’ve been gone, I dream that dream no more.
I now must walk that path as mortals have before.
A sense of real happiness if only for a short while,
I was happy nonetheless, just to see your smile.
Of all the things said and done, until the day I die.
I’ll always remember, you taught me how to fly.
