85...New York Minute III; Creatures Without Tails

Alarm bells ring! Off and running,
Fashionably late as usual.
New York's rat race begins
Above city sidewalks "beautiful".

As those below scurry about
Unabated to and fro;
Creatures without tails above,
And creatures with tails below.

We look better, we dress better.
They multiply, survive and thrive;
Visit the best restaurants,
Live in the best buildings at times.

We eat better, we dance better.
Perfectly gross in many ways.
We ride taxis and limousines,
But they own and ride the subways.

84...New York Minute II; The Main Attraction

Night does not fall on a city
That sports sunglasses at night.
It crawls as the centipede
A hundred legs at a time.

The curtain draws, lights go on,
Distractions gain traction;
The greatest show on earth
Welcomes the main attraction.

It's all about you none other,
Moment to seize not ponder.
Won't remind you what matters,
It's not time to be somber.

With things to do, places to be,
Photos and comments to post.
Better boorish than bored,
City lights beckon, time to go.

83...New York Minute I; Staten Island Grey

Ferried to the other side
A retrospective is honed.
Beyond the bay hilltops lost,
A dreary fog finds a home.

Faint towers appear to paint
Billows of clouds and smoke,
An impression of the bridge
Disappearing with the boats.

Harbor side is invisible
As the glisten of the waters,
Silver lining in the clouds,
And her torch over yonder.

Tyranny of grey in array,
Golden charm plainly missing.
Unpredictability,
Is the standard of living.

82...Sonnet LVIII

Twenty three days beyond the spell of new year,
the heart arouses with greater anticipation.
And a quiet celebration unveils from within
in homage to one who merits attention.

Fashioned from a star...a twinkle formed
one score and three years ago to forge life.
It sprung patterns of love to a mother's pride,
the apple of a father's eye...a lover's delight.

On this day I am obliged to make you smile
with thoughtful verses designed to last.
Bewilder the morning with your rainbow!

Touch the hands of those that make you glad.
Night will draw its canopy over day soon,
tomorrow best wishes remain forever and a half.

81...Sonnet LVII

Time is the enemy of all things including man
especially to those without a promise.
Time heals all wounds, takes away the hurt.
The same holds true for love and a fondness

without nourishment these cannot flourish.
Oh! how well I know these human traits to be.
Chosen to play the dreamer by my own design
history will record it portrayed well by me.

What more can be said to one's own heart
when it is two that is needed to share.
So much written on a woman's virtue

not lost in you, well worth the time spared
though now you have none for me...I do confess;
your deafening silence is more than I can bear.

Oh! Sweet Rainbow of the universe lost,
bring back the colors that set the dawn apart.
Let your soothing voice turn the night around,
untangle these knots that grip my heart

and tell me; why I am to be deprived of you?
Have I not been sentenced already
having no expectations of true love,
relegated to ardent admirer of beauty.

What constellation can your poet gaze upon
as he wanders the wilderness of time.
Having seen and heard an angel such as you

attested to through one simple man's eyes.
Set apart from all the others who lie,
born to reveal splendor of this kind.

79...Sonnet LV

Lost in translation as one would have it
in the timeless language of the unknown.
Imprisoned within the margins of the mind
ridicule was brought to bear all on my own.

Labeled tales of a vivid imagination
understandably misunderstood by some.
Yet significantly profound for one
as another day looms and is understood by none.

A parallel universe to grasp and understand,
few believe, most don't... the rest laugh inside.
Eyes have not seen or heard of such a thing

flagrantly disguised in a dream gone awry.
The molecular patterns of my fantasies
have been transformed and I wonder why.

78...Sonnet LIV

An unexpected visitor appeared again to me
speaking softly the saddest words of all.
A strange mask hid the beauty I've come to know
A sad resonance anticipated something to befall.

A hurt not privy to welled up in her eyes
wrestled portions out of me indiscriminately.
Then judgment pounded its gavel on my senses
in the saddest words to be let loose on me.

Having heard it in passing many times before
never had "goodbye" been conveyed in such a way.
rippling through my soul as I awoke dismayed.

Do pardon the emotions audaciously displayed.
But before you send me on my way unforgiven,
remember there is no sin in love...only in hate.

77...Sonnet LIII

Baffled by a riddle pressing grossly on me
I dared to utter the murmurs of my heart.
With unfettered candor I broke haunting silence,
confided in you matters confined to the stars.

Chosen to speak as it was given to me
the contents of a tale cloaked in mystery.
Borne as a dream from whence many blossomed
into spectrum's of rainbows the mind had long ceased.

Now an invasion of inconceivable warped dreams
disrupt my affinities for you or so it seems.
And today a trampled heart is left in its wake

for what indeed was revealed reluctantly.
With too much honesty for two to handle,
capricious confessions unwittingly betrayed me.

76...Sonnet LII

Possessor of a few mysteries full of intrigue
unimaginable tales given to me as I sleep.
Whether true or not fantastic as they seem
Who do I believe is the author of these?

If not the one and only who brings them
exclusively to those with wings to soar
high above the dense fog of confusion
through realms of day my soul restored.

A cluster of faith and love carries the day
though frail am I in my wretched mortality.
Choose we must all a master to serve,

not an option subject to rationality.
Where two exist, only one sits above the stars!
Is it He who loves...or him that deceives?

75...Sonnet LI

I pondered, how often was I granted the gift
of being nestled within a perfect hug?
Gazing at my reflection in pools of delight.
Decoding the wondrous mystery of love.

On how many occasions did these hands
draw sensuality from your countenance?
Cross the divide of your clouds of bliss.
Reach the confines of your universe.

Seldom most assuredly, yet not enough
to wipe the fragrance of your perfume.
Sweet aroma impaled in my mind to this day.

That now more than ever especially full moons
I long hopelessly many restless nights...staring
at the hands that once upon a time touched you.

74...Sound-scape

Sound-scape of silence clumsily barge
with noisy clatters of profound anguish.

Striking vehemently upon the ramparts of logic,
dashing to pieces the heart... now fallen ruins.

This uncanny stillness is not to be misunderstood
The conversations have ended with "taps" drum beating.

How strange to hear the absence of sound so loud
resonating with a pain I am most unfamiliar with.

73...The Old Man

I can hear the sound of my heart
as I lay hear thinking of good.
As things around me take shape
in aspects of destiny's rule.

The old man symbolizing
irrelevant being of the past
An unmitigated clarity
befalls as light unsurpassed.

Moonbeams striking upon my brow
I anxiously await  new moons.
Never have I listened so intensely
to my heart speaking such truths.

72...Sonnet XLV

Three little words you'll hear today
hopefully more times than you ever had before.
Not the three little words on everyone's lips
but three little words that mean so much more.

On this special day meant for you to receive
the accolades and tribute you deserve richly.
Fill the entire day with your charm and beauty
so it overwhelms the doubting heart instantly

and makes this day for you better than yesterday.
In one thoughtful and meaningful breath
receive these three little words from me

just in case you have not heard them as of yet,
repeated not as a courtesy but as you might expect
"I Love you" sweet rainbow of the universe.

71...Questions

How does this darkness
help the grass grow,
challenge unanswered pain,
not poison the soul?

How does it help me see
the rivers waters flow,
the rainbow over the clouds,
the laughter in sorrow?

How does this tempest
dancing in the darkness
reconcile with the stars,
break down this black tent?

How does it bring deliverance,
help me create heaven,
fulfill the simplest dreams,
make me whole again?

Somebody tell me how
do I reach those shores,
sail this sea of discontent,
maintain life’s allure?

Not content with sadness,
sordid shades of unrest.
Deny me the cry
but not the laughter.

Deny me the bitterness
of unrepentant sadness
but not the flavor of life,
unmitigated happiness.

Bring back the aura of the smile
so I may live again,
so I may love again,
so it all makes sense.

69...Sonnet XLIV

Love is not an operation of performance.
It's displayed as sentiments of loyalty
and in the works of genuine devotion,
caring, listening and understanding.

In the infancy of my vanity and conceit
a misspent youth did not heed these pearls.
And in my selfish arrogance as a man
could not grasp the concept of this world.

Then you came with your gentle attributes
common sense approach so charming and lovely
to humble me into enlightenment and believe,

you're the best thing that can happen to anybody.
Be mindful of these endearing qualities
when a King comes forth looking for a Queen.

Do not be confused with my expressions
or my impressions of you as extraordinary
For all the meaningful things I've written for you
have not been said to another so eloquently.

Nor can I imagine at this vulnerable stage
denying the muse that is still to discover
the hidden depths and beauty of your soul
with verses in your name and none other.

Let the mystery of it all demonstrate how
uncomplicated it is to love you all the time.
Study my words, my emotions and mind

The sacrifice I make to your happiness in kind
at the accepted risk of compromising mine,
learn from this man, you matter much in my life.

66...Sonnet XLII

My dreams are not lost in you woman... rather
they are enriched and expanded upon as intended.
Just the simple fact your smile reached me
that in itself added to the whole dimension.

Designed for a simple heart like mine
you are part of a concept that flourishes.
It's inception in the pools of your eyes
forever holds a muse for my imagination.

What good and worthwhile are my dreams
if you are not part of its essence,
the colors and breath of life that sustains it

with your beauty, charm and tenderness.
Qualities and traits of a real-life dreambow
that begins and ends with you my princess.

With your permission I will love you as I do
until my heart or time tells me otherwise.
I don't expect your lips to touch mine again
or you hear my heart breaking one last time.

It's just the way things are, have always been
your special Love cannot be divided into two.
Though selfishly I may be content with that
its certainly not what I wish for me and you.

Pardon the conclusions that envelop my mind
in prophetic clarity amidst my pain and denial.
You healed my heart and gave me hope,

invigorated my dreams into something wild.
Though not entitled to have you entirely
I beg of you...don't deprive me of your smile.

64...I've seen things

I’ve seen bottoms of clouds
so close I can touch.
From high above the ground
I’ve seen pastures I love.

I’ve lost my feet in the air.
my head in the clouds.
Seen the sun as never before,
all my senses aroused.

I’ve seen the wind take me,
lift me up freely.
In a dream of dreams
I’ve flown insanity.

I’ve seen me not pretend
to know how to fly
but do impossible
kiss the clouds passed by.

I’ve seen me not pretend
to be a mere mortal
see your face in the clouds,
hear the wind your name call.

I’ve seen what the seagull sees
as real as the ocean blue.
Fantasy as reality
fairytale come true.

All theses things I’ve seen
lying here beside you
in a perfect dream
where Asian flowers bloom.

A place you have nurtured
with candy lips treats.
A special place indeed
where your love has taken me.

I’ve seen flowers blossom
the sunset and full moon
but never love like yours
where all these fantasies bloom.
