71...Questions
How does this darkness
help the grass grow,
challenge unanswered pain,
not poison the soul?
How does it help me see
the rivers waters flow,
the rainbow over the clouds,
the laughter in sorrow?
How does this tempest
dancing in the darkness
reconcile with the stars,
break down this black tent?
How does it bring deliverance,
help me create heaven,
fulfill the simplest dreams,
make me whole again?
Somebody tell me how
do I reach those shores,
sail this sea of discontent,
maintain life’s allure?
Not content with sadness,
sordid shades of unrest.
Deny me the cry
but not the laughter.
Deny me the bitterness
of unrepentant sadness
but not the flavor of life,
unmitigated happiness.
Bring back the aura of the smile
so I may live again,
so I may love again,
so it all makes sense.
