138...Sonnet LXXXIX

Today you came to mind and I wondered;
can one forget a rainbow so soon,
a shooting star passing through,
the first kiss walking on the moon?

Can one dismiss the touch of a woman,
alluring fragrance of her tresses,
the warm whisper of a gentle command;
gifts of pure delight deemed precious?

A man is wholly obliged to discern
what is beautiful and what is good.
A quarter of a century in the making

stars realign to evoke as it should;
Its within the fold of your embrace
a heaven for two is understood.

Yield accolades befitting her style,
candied treats to suit the occasion.
Lend one rose over and above two dozen
before twenty five candles set in formation.

Yield the solemn promises she merits,
the gifts that meet her expectations.
Caring hands that stroke her semblance
when she dons a smile for creation.

Yield all the love she's able to bear
in her world with no complications.
Soon after the candles have melted away

and roses have wilted in graceful fashion;
once in a lifetime, special everyday
she'll remain standing as your inspiration.

136...I Remembered

I remembered to make you smile
it was that time of year.
I remembered it's been a while
since my verses brought cheer.

I remembered how I felt
and another round fell in sync.
I remembered simple things
like your eyes, your lips, and skin.

I remembered your presence
and it all came back to me
flooding my mind to no end
filling my senses with glee.

I remembered a muse so intense
and you at the heart of its themes.
It's clear you cannot be forgotten
erased from the chapters of memory.

So let it be said that I remembered
today you may want to feel special,
Let me remind you sweet rainbow
you're significance rises to all levels.

134....Sonnet LXXXVII

I could remember clearly not planning
around the order of your gentle world,
looking long enough into your eyes,
discerning the wisdom of your pearls.

I could recall in my vanity
overlooking that you were the beautiful one,
oblivious to tears you may have cried;
how it was all becoming undone.

I can recollect your confessions
pouring over a glass of red wine,
whispering honesty in my deaf ears;

your inner most secrets by pillow's side.
Truly a bold spirit had compromised
to explore a grief, to me now consigned.

133....The Great Pretender

I'm not here to fall in love,
Just claim that I am.
Not voluntarily say "I love you",
Just perform when asked.
Well rehearsed responses
Handy for those times
Your owned insecurities
And foibles collide.

I'm not here to love your mind,
Just your body lines.
Whisper what you want to hear
When we're drunk on wine.
Here! not because I need you,
But because I want you.
Not obliged to tell the truth,
Just what you think is true.

I'm not here to commit,
Just say that I do.
Not listen to what you say,
just pretend I do.
You're in the mind to control,
Impose your will and rules.
I'll keep bringing the flowers
Because you told me to.

I'm here to play the role well
So you don't relent
From giving me what I want;
Sex with your consent.
The one that is the master
Discourages dissent;
So two faces on one head
Lie beside you in bed.

I'm not here to fall in love.
Just claim that I am.

131...Sonnet LXXXVI

You...well acquainted with my heart
can anticipate the dew of loving words
gathered as gentle clouds to reign
over the sweet rainbow preferred.

To shower your being with affection.
Erect a pedestal that you may stand.
Draw inspiration from your existence,
your disarming twinkle that commands.

A dainty flower has blossomed today:
How can one resist your perfume any more?
Twenty four years of kisses testify

to your wonder that must be explored.
Twenty four hours left to celebrate.
A lifetime to cherish and adore.

130...Sonnet LXXXV

A man can readily get lost in you
if he had a mind to do so.
To find himself on other side
of wonder, with you in one soul.

Discover the loveliest treasures
found within the curve of your lips.
In the gentle stroke of your hand
affection that endures as bliss.

You kissed my soul into harmony
and became the teacher of a song.
Along the byways of yesterday

your melody and favors stand strong.
What I've loved, I still do, yet let go.
Rewards of my own I care not to call wrong.

129...Utopia

Unilateral disarmament of your senses
is the most dangerous of all precedents.
Naive wishful thinking on steroids,
the highest order of mental deterrence.

Unforgivable audacity has unleashed
unmerciful compassion at a high cost.
Not for the good of all but for the "some"
collectively lost in their "ism's" cause.

The propaganda of front page headlines.
Masters degrees in defective vocabulary.
Effective vocabulary makes too much sense.
Truth is not allowed to ruin a good story.

Haughty trail blazers usher in Utopia.
The stewards of tyrannical fantasies.
That does not include endangered species
of the human kind that think they're free.

128...New York Minute XVI: A Sign

A sign reappears in the sky
no occasion to be worried.
Your sign is at forty second
commissioned for the cursory.

With the likelihood you'll miss
a season that brings change.
A scandal will lead front page,
baseball and the latest craze.

An omen will visit soon
with new horizons forecast.
Whether you believe it or not
will not change matter of fact.

You'll trivialize and label.
Post, text, tweet and gossip.
Three more times it will visit
yet the riddle will persist.

127...Sonnet LXXXIV

It takes two... to love each other
but only one to despise another.
One to accuse...another to agree.
One to conspire against his brother.

One to forget...another to remember.
One to tell the truth and one to lie.
One to make a real difference
first as a testimony in their own life.

One to come to the conclusion
you cannot save the world alone,
but a world next door closer to you.

Real peace exists only as your own.
For the ways of men is war and folly
competing for hearts and minds stoned cold.

126...Sonnet LXXXIII

Oh what emotions do to our lives.
We pick and choose which are convenient.
What‘s good for today won't be for tomorrow.
As we struggle to live in the intellect

circumscribed by reasons of logic.
Unbridled emotions cast you down
after it has spirited you away
in an uproar of confidence unsound.

Not rooted on what’s best in the long run.
Or experiences tried and tested.
But feeding on uncertainties,

waving platitudes that sentence.
May I call love a truth and not an emotion?
Most assuredly there is a difference.

125...Sonnet LXXXII

Silver moonbeams paint the ripples
rolling softly upon rich black waters.
A timid undercurrent has visited the bay
filling it with emotion in quiet splendor.

The cool winter breeze caresses me
tracing the contours of my semblance.
As I breathe the vigor of the night air,
and take in the stars with no one present.

It is then I, absorbed in the moment,
ponder why does the beauty of it all
always surrender a place to you?

In a mindful resolute protocol,
second nature revealing in its aspects,
your lips and your eyes... what I most recall.

124...Sonnet LXXXI

A rainbow still lingers in brilliance
bathing the contours of my golden heart.
Honing absolutes as the tide and wind,
doused in steep emotions of fine art.

Intuitively embracing the likes of wonder
as treasures peeking out from the sand.
I am left to reflect on your polished allure
that still graces me with charm and class.

Hearing the ocean's song speaking to me
I retain fondly my impressions of you.
And as I labor to consolidate

these mixed emotions perfectly tuned,
I open my eyes and see a picture of you
to remind me what rainbows are and do.

123...Sonnet LXXX

I do not seek my own righteousness.
I aspire to understand one truth.
I can't explain what is given.
Of a state most likely you'll label too.

I aim to be a plain man not a simple one.
Who cries tears of joy as often as I can.
Impervious to superfluous diatribes,
emotional lathering  that does not withstand.

I do not need to know what doesn’t matter.
Stand in the sinking sand of vain fools.
Though strange it may seem to the many

The many cannot be part of the few.
Seeing clearly the challenges before me,
It's perfect love that will lead me through.

122...Sonnet LXXIX

A thousand times I call yet no answer.
A thousand minutes desolate in vain.
Many days appointed to gather in total
accumulated as if points to a game.

A measure of time that spans inconceivably
as a string of endless ambivalence,
tied in knots of classified disappointments,
irretrievably lost in quiet frustration.

A meager expectation thwarted.
Reduced to a miracle that may occur.
Confounding logic to a stalemate.

Circumventing a defeat, the will to surrender,
I become haggard and gray gracefully.
One day you’ll remember I am your brother.

121...Sonnet LXXVIII

When destiny’s chariot and its rider
converge with time to take me away,
I will have remembered to say “I love you.”
Embody the true meaning of that phrase.

Understand it was always meant for you
as discreet tears convey joy of a revelation.
I will have fed your mind with my love.
Romance your soul with my interpretations.

In a myriad of poetic symphonies
that rewarded me with dividends of gladness.
Intended to make your heart sing.

It took a lifetime to study and examine:
what was missing all along was you
to teach me what I could never imagine.
