120...Sonnet LXXVII

How much can one person endure?
How long does it take to heal the hurt?
How best to entertain the idea
that you will never return.

Has this ever happened to you?
Am I paying a debt unbeknown?
May I envisage an outcome
that does not reek of wrong?

Extol the virtues of a woman,
while embers dissipate in ash?
Did you not find me with a smile?

Hear my voice with sighs of glad?
You’ve seen tears of a man
But not the one where you left me last.

119...Sonnet LXXVI

Take a peek at my temperate heart;
Do you recognize it at all?
Is there any semblance to what is was,
at first light the colors you recall?

Take a look at the past of not long ago
to define what lives in the present.
The challenges of reason over emotions.
The futile battle to think of you less.

Mere thoughts of you whether by day or night
only serve to vamp up creative thinking;
while ambivalence uncomfortably stands

alongside the fears you’ll soon forget me.
Undress my soul to re-examine how
my heart is still full of you…unrelenting.

118...Sonnet LXXV

Jubilant spirits converge within.
Emotions emerge in euphoria.
Needing you is at the peak of my desires
Needing you...more than I have past.

I remember much your hands defining
Loving gentle strokes practiced so well.
Over and over again melting in your space,
Valiantly falling under your spell.

Endless thoughts of you fill my nights
Yearning desires strung along.
Of that day... tides hold the memories

Underlying the splendor of your touch.
Sparkling in my eyes as I reminisce
One by one your fingers rolling along.

117...New York Minute XV: Afternoon In The Harbor

Afternoon in the harbor.
Helicopters above roaming.
Back and forth coming and going,
one leaving another arriving.

Gunboat escorting, sporting
a yard of steel imposing.
Ski mask covering identity.
At the helm no one posing.

New York Waterway streaks by
gallivanting the waters.
Only the ferry merits
measures of caution to ponder.

On the west is all the action.
On the east the gawking is most.
Two seagulls hastily dash by
and I wonder what they might know.

116...Sonnet LXXIV

How dare I dream…how dare I aspire.
How dare I add value to my thoughts.
Consider its merits and speak.
Logically evaluate principles taught.

How dare I expect respect unconditionally
without disproving stereotypes adopted.
Blow my mind and think I am equal.
Believe indignant trial periods end.

How dare I understand the words you choose.
Disagree wholeheartedly disappointed.
Oh! the fickle behavior of minds that meet,

until the paper sword is brandished.
Illusions are worst than delusions.
Expectations worst than indignation's.
